Subclass 485 - Second Post Study Work Stream Visa

Students who have graduate with an Australian Bachelors or higher from a regional university and have subsequently lived in a regional area will have access to Second Post-Study Work Visa.

 The length of your stay will depend on:

  • where you studied and graduated from as the holder of a student visa; and
  • where you live as the holder of your sc 485 - Post Study Visa, or your sc485 - Replacement Visa.

Subclass 485 - Second Post Study Work Stream Eligibility

To be eligible for a Subclass 485 - Second Post Study Work Stream Visa application, you must:

  • Hold an eligible visa;
  • Be under 50 years of age;
  • Have studied with an Australian education provider in a designated regional area;
  • Lived in a designated regional area;
  • Work and study in designated regional area;
  • Meet health and character requirement;
  • Provide evidence of adequate health insurance for all applicants.

Length of Stay for Second Post Study Visa

STREAM 1: 1 Year of Second Post Study Work Stream Visa

If you have Studied and lived in Category 2 – Regional Area; you will be eligible for an additional 1 year on a second Temporary Graduate visa.

STREAM 2 : 2 Years of Second Post Study Work Stream Visa

If you have Studied and lived in Category 2 – Regional Area; you will be eligible for an additional 1 year on a second Temporary Graduate visa.

Steps to apply for a Subclass 485 - Second Post Study Work Stream Visa

Once we receive all your documents and finalise your visa application, we will lodge your second post study application.

    Do I need to continue to live in a regional area?

    This visa will require ongoing residence in a regional area.

     

    Can I work full time?

    Yes, Subclass 485 provides full working rights. 

    Will I receive work rights on Subclass 485 - Bridging Visa?

    If you held your student visa immediately before applying for Subclass 485, the work rights on the bridging visa will come into effect when your student expires. However, we recommend that you check your VEVO to confirm this. 

    Can I cancel my Health cover once the visa is granted?

    You must maintain adequate health care coverage while holding your Subclass 485. If you do not, your 485 can be cancelled by the Department of Home Affairs.
