Visa Application

There are many streams of Business and Investor Visa. Read more and see which one is most suitable for you. 

Business Innovation Stream

This temporary work visa allows you to operate a new or existing Australian company.

Investor Stream

This temporary visa requires you to invest at least AUD2.5 million in Australia with an approved nomination by a State or Territory government.

Significant Investor Stream

This provisional visa is for people who invest at least AUD5 million in Australian investments that meet certain requirements and maintain investment activity in Australia.

Entrepreneur Stream

For startup and early stage entrepreneurs who have been endorsed to develop their concepts and been nominated by a State or Territory government agency.

Temporary Visa Eligibility

To be eligible for a Business Innovation visa, you must be:

  • Be under 55 years old.
  • Have functional English.
  • Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency
  • Score at least 65 points on the points test.
  • Must have a successful business career
  • Not have a history of involvement in unacceptable activities
  • For 2 out of 4 fiscal years before applying, you must have had an ownership stake in 1 or 2 businesses that had at least:
    • AUD750,000 turnover in each of those 2 years if you were invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021
  • Whether you have 1 or 2 businesses, you must own at least:
    • 51% of the total value of the business if the business has a turnover of less than AUD400,000 per year
    • 30%, of the total value of the business if the business has a turnover of AUD400,000 or more per year, or
  • When you are invited to apply for this visa, you, your partner, or you and your partner combined must have total net business and personal assets of at least:
    • 1.25 million if you were invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021.

 

To be eligible for a Investor Stream visa, you must be:

  • Be under 55 years old.
  • Have functional English.
  • Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency
  • Intend to live in a specific State or Territory
  • Score at least 65 points on the points test.
  • Not have a history of involvement in unacceptable activities
  • Must have had:
    • have at least 3 years' experience managing one or more qualifying businesses or eligible investments
    • have a successful record of eligible investment or qualifying business activity
    • have demonstrated a high level of management skill in relation to the eligible investment or qualifying business activity
  • When you are invited to apply for this visa, you, your partner, or you and your partner combined must have total net business and personal assets of at least:
    • 5 million if you were invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021
  • For at least 1 of the 5 fiscal years before applying, you must have directly managed one of the following:
    • a qualifying business in which you, your partner or you and your partner combined had at least 10% ownership interest, or
    • an eligible investment of at least AUD 2.5 million owned by you, your partner, or you and your partner combined, if invited on or after 1 July 2021.

 

If you were invited to apply for this visa on or after 1 July 2021, you must make (on or after the time of application for this visa), a complying significant investment of at least AUD2.5 million and continue holding it for the life of your provisional visa. 

To be eligible for a Significant Investor visa, you must be:

  • Be under 55 years old.
  • Have functional English.
  • Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency
  • Not have a history of involvement in unacceptable activities
  • If you were invited to apply on or after 1 July 2021, you must make (on or after the time of application for this visa), a complying significant investment of at least AUD5 million when we invite you to and have a genuine intention to hold that investment for the life of your provisional visa.

To be eligible for a Entrepreneur Stream visa, you must be:

  • Be under 55 years old.
  • Have competent English.
  • Be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency
  • Receive an Invitation to apply for visa.
  • You must be undertaking, or proposing to undertake, a complying entrepreneur activity in Australia. You must have a genuine intention to continue this activity.
  • If you were invited to apply for this visa on or after 1 July 2021, you must be endorsed by your nominating State or Territory government agency to develop your entrepreneurial concepts.

Permanent Visa Eligibility

Holders of the Subclass 188 Business and Investment visa can continue living in Australia permanently by applying for a subclass 888 visa. Subclass 888 has multiple streams, which includes:

  • Subclass 888 – Business Innovation stream
  • Subclass 888 – Investor stream
  • Subclass 888 – Significant Investor stream
  • Subclass 888 – Premium investor stream
  • Subclass 888 – Entrepreneur stream

Steps to Apply for Provisional 188 Visa

Assess your Eligibility

To begin processing your Subclass 188 application, our Registered Migration Agents will evaluate your resume and confirm that you are eligible to apply for the visa. During this discussion, we will identify your desired state, understand whether you would like to operate a business or manage an investment, and advise you of the suitable visa type within the stream for you.  

Apply for State or Territory Nomination

We will then assist you in lodging an Expression of Interest with your desired stated, if you meet the eligibility criteria. If not, we will recommend other state that you may be suitable for, and proceed accordingly. Please note that each state and territory have its own criteria, so we will work with you to meet these criteria. 

Apply for Provisional Visa

Once you secure a nomination, we will assist you in preparing you application and documents for your desired visa stream in Subclass 188.

    No, you are not required to apply for a travel ban exemption if you have an approved business visa to travel to Australia.
