visa Changes in Employer Nomination Scheme – Subclass 186 (ENS) and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Subclass 187 (RSMS) – Direct and Transition stream

English language requirements:

All applications lodged on or after 1 July 2017 for ENS and RSMS under the Transition (TRT) stream will require a minimum IELTS or equivalent score of 6 in each. The English language exemption for applicants who have nominated earnings at least equivalent to the current Australian Taxation Office top individual income tax rate (AUD 180,001) has been removed for applications lodged on or after 1 July 2017.

Genuine need:

All ENS and RSMS under Transition and Direct stream nominations must show evidence of ‘Genuine need’ for the person to work in the nominated position.

Age reduction:

From 1 July 2017, applicants for ENS and RSMS must be under 45 years of age. However, under the Transition stream, applicants under 50 years of age can apply until 01/03/2018.

Skills assessment exemption removed:

 The skills assessment exemptions for applicants who have nominated earnings at least equivalent to the current Australian Taxation Office top individual income tax rate (AUD 180,001) and lodging under the Direct Entry stream of both ENS and RSMS have been removed for applications lodged on or after 1 July 2017.
